BRISTOL BAY, AK—The Pebble Partnership, according to its latest lawsuit, is suing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over nefarious actions that may lead to actually protecting the environment.
“An Oct. 14 filing in U.S. District Court alleges that the EPA collaborated with anti-Pebble organizations as it prepared to evaluate the proposed gold and copper mine in the Bristol Bay region. Pebble also claims the agency didn’t begin to draft a highly critical assessment of large-scale Bristol Bay mining, initially released in April 2013 and finalized in January, until after it already decided to veto the project.”
Meantime, this year’s Bristol Bay sockeye salmon run was 40.6 million fish, the 7th highest return in the last 20 years. As of today, the partnership and its lawyers have not filed suit against the belligerent salmon population.
