WASHINGTON—There are currently 49 million acres of inventoried roadless areas within America’s national forests and grasslands. Due to a recent decision by the U.S Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals reinstating the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule, these undeveloped public lands managed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture will remain pavement free and timbered for the time being. 

According to the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP), the federal court decision affirms the value of backcountry areas in sustaining healthy habitat for fish and wildlife… “something hunters and anglers have known for years.”
