We received an e-mail from Felt Soul Media’s Travis Rummel this morning relaying some good news from Canada. Eastern Rises, Felt Soul’s Bigfoot baiting, Hog Johnson-chasing Kamchatka documentary featuring veteran flyfishers, Frank Smethurst, and Ryan Peterson, captured Best Film on Mountain Sport at the 2010 Banff Mountain Film Festival. Rummel says, “We just won an award at Banff for [Eastern Rises] so it is nice to know that flyfishing films can resonate outside the industry.” The Banff event is an international film competition featuring short films and documentaries about mountain culture, sports, and environment. It was launched in 1976. Top films will be added to festival’s world tour, which begins in January 2011. Source Link
