NEW JERSEY—Patagonia Inc. recently pledged $2.3 million toward the purchase of Seaside Heights, New Jersey, as part of its Communities for Cultural Eternity initiative. “We’ve selected Seaside because we strongly believe it’s one of the final frontiers of contemporary Americana teetering on the brink of its last 15-minutes,” says company founder, Yvon Chouinard.

Plans for Estancia Seaside include the construction of the “Wicked Summer” theme park, replete with dance clubs, an evolution of spray-tanning museum, as well as a boardwalk seagull petting zoo. Chouinard, who downplays a rumored tryst with Snooki on the set of Pirates of the Flats, Belize, says the pending Seaside Heights acquisition meshes well with the company’s mandate to protect and restore national treasures for future generations. Following the reclamation process, Patagonia plans to return Estancia Seaside to New Jersey in exchange for the Turnpike and season tickets to the Nets.
