It was a long, cold winter, and spring has continued that trend. Everything is 3 weeks behind, but blue wings were coming off, which provided for some surface action. The rust of that long winter was evident for both of us, I managed to lose 2 fish due to shitty hook sets, miss another 2 completely, and break one off, with the boy doing about the same. That being said, it was a great day on the water.

In all seriousness, the boy asked if we could tow it to the Missouri for 2 weeks for his high school graduation. That seems like a great idea, and I will likely make it happen, although I am also thinking a 2 week trip to Argentina may be another option. He's only in 8th grade, so we have 3 1/2 years to decide.

90 degree temps and bluebird skies did what you would expect to the fishing, as it was shit. We floated one day, rounding the day out with a double skunk, and waded at night the second day, my son missed 3 fish and I managed to get one on a Hendrickson dun, the only fish that rose to my fly all day. That being said, the kid told me he had a great time as always, and (corny as it sounds) that is worth the effort.
