I had one of my most enjoyable overnights in a while last weekend. Bear, Nuya and I took the shoe out for her first birthday party. Our two days were high 60’s which required flannel to be taken out of its winter storage, and a night in the low 50’s which required actually zipping up the sleeping bag. I think we, and Nuya slept for 12 hours. Fishing kinda sucked, but didn’t see any idiots- which is always a plus these days.

Looked like so.

I still haven’t decided if euro nymphing is fly fishing. Actually I have, it’s not.

But I caught zero fish to put in the pan on the streamer. Bear caught several, and I really like trout, eggs, taters and hot sauce. So I’m left with that to think about this week.

I really like the rope seats. I honestly just made them at first because I didn’t want to put a chinsy plastic seat in a wood-everything boat... but I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable they are. My friends seem to say the same thing, but they could be lying to make me feel better about all the time they take to make.

I’m finally done building bote-seats.

Need something to make winter fun this year, so might make a bigger dry box for the rowers seat.. I’ve been wanting to start an au sable boat but I have no space and I think my wife would divorce me. Open to suggestions :Roll Eyes

Nolan was home for the holidays, so we did as we do every year and that’s give each other skunkings for Christmas. If you haven’t been keeping up here, we’ve had this going for enough years to loose track how many.

We slept in after a night drinking and cooking Indian food with bear and twav, and made our way north.

We’ve had a mild, wet winter so far so figured we’d get skunked on a trout stream. After about 2-3 hours of proper skunking, we opened the bench whiskey. After 4-5 pulls a piece, we got this strange idea that we might just catch something this year.

And to our surprise, the whiskey was right. So we took more pulls of said bench whiskey until there was no more bench whiskey.

I’m a little un-sure about not getting skunked for Christmas. 2020’s either going to suck, or be really good. Maybe we’ll just try harder for said skunking next time he’s home to set the world straight again.

But one things certain- it was awfully nice having Nolan home for the holidays.

Nice Brown!
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and guess the winning fly came from the Plano box and not the Cliff box. Fish can sense that shit.
